e-TEF - Test d'Évaluation de Français

The e-TEF (Test d’évaluation de français) is a recognized international exam designed to assess your level of proficiency in French. Developed by the CCIP (Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris), it is used for academic, professional, and immigration purposes.

Results of the exam are valid up to 2 years from the date that they are announced.

Why Take the e-TEF?

Test Structure 

The e-TEF is a computer-based test. It evaluates four core language skills:

  • Listening comprehension

  • Reading comprehension

  • Written expression

  • Oral expression

Different versions are available depending on your objectives:

  • TEF Canada (for Canadian immigration and citizenship)

  • TEFAQ (for Québec immigration)

  • TEF IRN (Intégration, Résidence, Nationalité): required for residency permits or French nationality applications

  • TEF for studies or professional purposes
