Official certifications
Exams and diplomas at Alliance Française Chiang Mai
Alliance Française Chiang Mai offers official French language certifications recognized worldwide. Whether you’re looking to certify your French skills for professional reasons, academic pursuits, or personal development, obtaining an official certification can open doors to a wide range of opportunities.
The DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française, for beginner and intermediate students) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française, for advanced students) are the official certificates issued by the French Ministry of Education to certify your French language proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. They have lifelong validity.
TEF (Test d’évaluation de français) Administered by the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIP), the TEF is an international reference exam used for immigration (TEF Canada, TEFAQ, TEF IRN), academic, or professional purposes. The e-TEF is a digital version of the test, assessing your level in reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
DFP (Diplôme de français professionnel) Also issued by the CCIP, the DFP certifies your ability to use French in professional contexts.
These certifications validate your practical language skills through real-life professional tasks. They are ideal for professionals, students, and companies looking to certify their teams.
Alliance Française Chaing Mai is the only authorised exam centre for the DELF/DALF/TEF/DFP in Chiang Mai.
We prepare you for these exams through our general French courses.
Why Take an Official French Certification?
Global Recognition
French language exams such as the DELF, DALF, and TEF are internationally recognized. Holding a certification demonstrates your proficiency in French to universities, employers, and immigration authorities across the globe. Whether you’re planning to study, work, or live in a French-speaking country, an official certificate will give you the credibility you need.
Enhance Career Opportunities
In today’s global job market, being proficient in French can set you apart. Many companies, particularly those with international operations, value candidates who speak multiple languages. Obtaining an official French certification can boost your resume and increase your chances of landing a job or advancing in your career.
Academic Requirements
For students wishing to pursue higher education in French-speaking institutions, an official certification is often a requirement for admission. Whether you’re applying to a university in France, Canada, Belgium, or Switzerland, passing exams like the DELF or DALF will demonstrate your academic readiness and linguistic skills.
Measurable Progress
Taking an official exam helps you set clear goals and measure your progress. Each level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) corresponds to a specific skill set, so you can track your improvement and see tangible results in your language abilities. Passing an official exam provides you with a concrete achievement that you can be proud of.
Immigration and Visa Requirements
If you’re planning to move to a French-speaking country, certain visa and immigration processes require proof of language proficiency. Official exams such as the TEF (for Canada) can help you meet these requirements, ensuring a smoother process in obtaining your visa.
A Structured Learning Path
Preparing for an official exam provides a clear framework for learning. It encourages consistent study and helps you focus on the key areas of the language, from grammar and vocabulary to speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
